When a non-profit partner is beginning the process of having their website redesigned, we like to get some specifics about the type of site they are envisioning. Our RFP form is a good first step in the web redesign process and has some introductory questions that get at the same issues, but it is sometimes helpful to answer some slightly more in-depth questions specifically about the look and feel as a separate, secondary exercise.

How to Write an RFP for a Non-profit Website
One of the questions we are frequently asked is “How much does it cost for a website?” Our usual answer is “It depends.” (It's kind of like asking “How much is a new car?” It depends on a lot of factors, such as which options you want to include, whether it's a hybrid and so on). Your best bet is to put together a strong RFP (Request for Proposal) that you can send around to give an accurate idea of the scope of the new site and get an accurate estimate of what it will cost to build it.
