Education

sofie.org

sofie.org

SOFIE (Schools Online For Interactive Education) is the website of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools. It serves as an information point about the association of twenty-one Sacred Heart schools across the United States, including clickable maps and information about the schools, as well as frequently updated news and events.

We initially helped them build their site in 2005 and it is managed day-to-day by an administrator on their end via a browser-based administration panel. We recently helped upgrade the site from Joomla 1.0 to Joomla 1.5.

SFK.org

SFK.org

SFK came to us for help designing and building out a site in Drupal. They had done a lot of preliminary work including site structure and wireframes, which was great. We worked through a number of revisions to find a look and feel that matched their vision for atmosphere and color -- clean and professional without being antiseptic.

Friendship Parent's News

Friendship Parent's News

Friendship decided to start a newsletter to increase communication with its parents. We used the design style we estabished for Friendship in its other materials and used many photos to catch busy people's eyes.

Tanabata G8 Ad

Tanabata G8 Ad

This ad was the first in a series of three which we worked on with Avaaz.org in conjunction with the G8 meetings in Japan in July of 2008. The opening of the meetings coincided with the beginning of the Tanabata festival, "when people in Japan write their wishes for the year ahead and tie them to bamboo trees." A number of other groups also partnered on this ad (Oxfam, Save the Children, ONE, and GCAP), and they had been collecting virtual "wishes" from their constituents.

Academic Design Guide

Academic Design Guide

Friendship Public Charter School requested an Academic Guide to give out to their teachers. It describes Friendship's unique way of educating and needed to reflect the professional and child-centered academic model.

BallouSTAY.org

BallouSTAY.org

Ballou STAY needed a simple website as a place to provide information about their school and their offerings, with the ability to potentially expand in the future with a password-protected area for students and teachers. We designed a site for them and developed it in a CMS that would both allow them to control their content now as well as expand the site's capabilities easily in the future.

Kingsbury Day School Annual Report 2006

Kingsbury Day School Annual Report 2006

Kingsbury requested an annual report that would tie in the colors and photos used in the brochure we designed for them. They wanted an affordable design to highlight their programs and thank their many supporters.

Ballou STAY logo

Ballou STAY logo

Ballou STAY came to us with little guidance for their logo besides that they wanted a bird of some kind. We drafted a number of versions, including one which included a stylized bird form that also doubled as a stylized book (to symbolize the educational function of the school). In the end they decided they wanted a more vibrant bird which could also act as a mascot of sorts and we went with a more traditional bird of prey.

Kingsbury Day School Brochure

Kingsbury Day School Brochure

Kingsbury Day School needed a professional brochure to pass around to interested families to give a sense of their unique learning environment. We created a striking, eight-panel gate fold brochure (when you open the brochure, the two interior panels both open outwards, one to the right and one to the left, like double doors, revealing the four panels of the inner spread). This project was printed in full color.

We were fortunate to have a pool of wonderful photos to work from, taken by Hyon Smith.

livingwages.org

livingwages.org

Living Wages needed a website that would be visually appealing and would provide an area for information and for news updates and photos. It was also important that one of their devoted volunteers could manage the site and add the content.

Friendship News and Notes

Friendship News and Notes

Friendship News and Notes is a periodic newsletter for parents of children that attend schools in the Friendship umbrella. We developed a look that was professional but also a little playful, using Friendship's trademark bright red, rounded corners, and a modified font style for headers.
