Non-Profit Web Design

Enquire about non-profit web design

See below for samples of the non-profit web design that we've done. We develop the sites from the ground up, working in partnership with non-profits to design a new sitemap and structure/wireframes before we start on the design. We develop a new look and feel based on conversation and research with the individual non-profit organization, taking into account desired style, organizational colors, and priority. From there we convert the look and feel into code for the web (XHTML and stylesheets) and then integrate it into a content management system (CMS) which we choose based on the organization's website needs, since each CMS has its own pro's and con's. Feel free to explore using the tags within each project (by partner, by the type of project, or by relevant issue topics).

Education For Justice

Education For Justice

The Education For Justice project has an expansive membership-based website chock full of prepared resources related to Catholic Social Teaching for educators. In November of 2007 we helped them port their site over to Drupal from a proprietary CMS which was not user-friendly. Although they had great content, it was hard to organize it well in the restrictive and clunky system they were tied in to. Recently, we've given the site another major update.

sofie.org

sofie.org

SOFIE (Schools Online For Interactive Education) is the website of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools. It serves as an information point about the association of twenty-one Sacred Heart schools across the United States, including clickable maps and information about the schools, as well as frequently updated news and events.

We initially helped them build their site in 2005 and it is managed day-to-day by an administrator on their end via a browser-based administration panel. We recently helped upgrade the site from Joomla 1.0 to Joomla 1.5.

Festival Center website

Festival Center website

Before coming to CEDC for a website redesign, Festival Center had a site about their main program, the Servant Leadership School. They wanted the new site to feature the Center itself, draw people to the school, and also encourage them to rent space at the Center. They liked the ability to do their own editing and to add new articles on their own.

afjn.org

afjn.org

We recently helped Africa Faith and Justice Network refresh the website that we helped them develop back in 2006. The site allows them to manage their news items and events, as well as donations, subscribtions and advocacy email blasts through integration with Democracy in Action. The photos in the rotating headers are courtesy of CRS and we've also integrated some subtle African textures into the background.

NIJC website refresh

NIJC website refresh

The National Immigrant Justice Center worked with us a few years ago to develop their website and we recently helped them upgrade the site from Joomla 1.0 to Joomla 1.5, with some minor thematic polishing. In addition to porting the information over to the new software and updating various extensions that are in use, we integrated the template with their Democracy in Action account so their online advocacy tools  through DiA would match the look and feel of their own site.

SFK.org

SFK.org

SFK came to us for help designing and building out a site in Drupal. They had done a lot of preliminary work including site structure and wireframes, which was great. We worked through a number of revisions to find a look and feel that matched their vision for atmosphere and color -- clean and professional without being antiseptic.

Community council for the homeless at friendship place

Community council for the homeless at friendship place

Community Council for the Homeless at Friendship Place (CCHFP) had been struggling with a patchwork website that had been designed and managed by many people over the years. They came to CEDC for a Joomla! CMS website that would have a consistent design and would be easier to update than their previous method.

NCPD.org

NCPD.org

The National Catholic Partnership on Disability's new site recently went live. We developed it in Drupal and trained NCPD staff so that they can manage the site themselves. We had input from folks in their offices and on their board regarding accessibility preferences and ended up building two separate themes, one which included graphics and one which was a stripped down "text only" version.

RSCJ International

RSCJ International

The static HTML site we had helped the Sisters of the Sacred Heart build years earlier had grown to such a point that we began looking for an easier way to manage the content. The site is largely translated into three languages (French, Spanish, and English) and so each update was requiring much more effort than was necessary.

CLINICLegal.org

CLINICLegal.org

A site redesign and development in an open source CMS to make updating easier among the team of updaters, to make content more accessible to the public and to members, and to provide a more attractive face to the public.

CEDC.org

CEDC.org

We finally carved out the time to freshen the look and feel and rebuilt our site from the ground up.

We used Drupal for its extensibility and for the ability to cross-reference the type of design with the partner we worked with as well as any keywords we added for a design. Custom theming also allowed us to link the partner pages to a list of the other projects that we've worked on with them, and in the design pages, to automatically generate an image gallery based on the filepaths for graphics we've uploaded for the project.

familiesandchildrensnetwork.org (FCAN)

familiesandchildrensnetwork.org (FCAN)

FCAN's website was out of date and hard to manage. We worked with them to create a simply designed site that was restructured and which could be updated through a web browser. We went with a simple red and black color scheme to match the colors of their logo and set up a number of online registration forms to help make the process of accepting applications easier.

Daycareindc.org

Daycareindc.org

The Washington Child Development Council needed a site refresh so we took their old site and developed a cleaner, updated look and feel, retaining echoes of the old look for continuity. We developed the site in a content management system so that they can take control of the content and fulfilled their desire for some movement by integrating a subtle Flash header which is dynamic but not in-your-face.

COC.org

COC.org

The Center of Concern (COC) recently partnered with us to refresh their website both visually (with an updated look and feel) as well as underneath the hood (with a more powerful content management system).

AANNExchange.org

AANNExchange.org

This site has AJAX rotation on front page news items and a random header image. The front page is a separate template with larger images -- internally the header shrinks to allow content to stay closer to the top.

catholicsinalliance.org

catholicsinalliance.org

Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good had some specific needs and a request to rebuild their site using Drupal. We went through several iterations of the design and settled on one which had echoes of their old site but was refreshed. As we converted the design into a "theme" that could be used with Drupal, we also worked on some of the back-end structural items and the folks at Catholics in Alliance worked with the content and learned the new administrative interface.
*This site has since been modified and is no longer live in this format.

faithfarmteams.com: A Fair Harvest (website)

faithfarmteams.com: A Fair Harvest (website)

As a follow-up to the Faith Farm Teams action alert in relation to the U.S. Farm Bill, we helped create a temporary web presence (no longer live) for the churches. It featured much of the same information as the flyer contained as well as giving the option to sign up for email alerts and download resources. The site also linked to the appropriate webpage for each denomination.

Seekerschurch.org

Seekerschurch.org

In 1991 a member of Seekers Church designed a web site that featured all of their sermons, liturgies and core documents. The content was highly regarded by pastors around the world but by 2007 the design needed to be modernized. CEDC used the Joomla content management system (CMS) to design a new site reorganizing the old content and adding new features like "Meet a Seeker" and a gallery of Seekers' art.

BallouSTAY.org

BallouSTAY.org

Ballou STAY needed a simple website as a place to provide information about their school and their offerings, with the ability to potentially expand in the future with a password-protected area for students and teachers. We designed a site for them and developed it in a CMS that would both allow them to control their content now as well as expand the site's capabilities easily in the future.

livingwages.org

livingwages.org

Living Wages needed a website that would be visually appealing and would provide an area for information and for news updates and photos. It was also important that one of their devoted volunteers could manage the site and add the content.
