Banner Sticker Worker overalls Shaking Obama's hand

Short video:

I hopped on my bike for an extended lunch hour today and I joined a group of folks who were calling for building a green economy and a binding global treaty, new green jobs, carbon caps and the like. We had helped Avaaz.org put together some stickers and a large banner so it was neat to see those in action as well as some of the other paraphernalia Avaaz and the other organizers had built and gathered (green hard hats, white worker's overalls spray painted with slogans, windmills, a big wall posted with local green stories that had been submitted via the web, etc.)

Favorite chants: "Green jobs, not green wash!" and "Ooo, ooo. It's hot out here. Too much carbon in the atmosphere!"

Here's the call put out by Avaaz last week:

This Monday, representatives from the 16 biggest polluters will be in town attending an important climate meeting. It's Obama’s first real moment to show true leadership on international climate talks, but it will largely be out of the media, reducing the pressure on delegates to deliver.

Fortunately, we can change that. Avaaz and our allies are holding a joint action with people dressed in green hardhats, constructing a "New Green Economy" and urging for strong climate leadership.

Some of the other groups involved: 350.org, Greenpeace, 1Sky, CCAN, Friends of the Earth...
